Paulo Sousa has been hailed by the Brazilian media as the main candidate to replace Renato Gaucho’s coach. The coach of the Polish national team is scheduled to meet Marcos Braz and Bruno Spindel on Saturday in Lisbon. The Brazilians do not mind that the 51-year-old coach is currently the coach of the White and Reds. The media suggests that it could combine both functions.
“Paulo Sousa understands that coming to Flamengo at this point would be better for his career, both for sports and for the future,” writes Globo Esporte. In Brazil, two Portuguese coaches have recently achieved success and Flamengo would like to follow suit.
However, it seems unlikely that Sousa would work permanently in South America and would come from there only to the training camps of the Polish national team. It is hard to suppose that the Polish Football Association would agree to such a solution.
As a reminder, Paulo Sousa took Poland to the World Cup play-offs after finishing second in the qualifying group. Poland will play away with Russia for the World Cup, and the match will begin on March 24 at 18.00 Polish time. The winner in this pair will play against the better of the rivalry Sweden – Czech Republic.
