O Flamengo has in Angelo, from Santos, the priority target at the moment. The club holds talks with the alvinegra board and forwarded a proposal. Values are around 13 million euros – about R$ 71.5 million at the current exchange rate – for 80% of the 18-year-old player’s rights.
There is a possibility of flexibility depending on Santos’ conversations and analysis of what is on the table. But the goal of the Red-Black leaders is to keep between 70% and 80% of Angelo’s rights.
The analysis within Ninho do Urubu is very clear: Ângelo has the potential for an immediate sporting return and, in the future, the ability to become one of the biggest sales in the history of the club. Left-handed, with a preference for playing on the right side of the field, he would comply with coach Vitor Pereira’s request.
Flamengo is also already aware of the necessary conditions for the athlete and his staff to arrange the transfer to Rio de Janeiro.
Faced with this and the early elimination of Santos in the Paulista championship there is optimism that the negotiation will progress in the coming days and Ângelo will be the third red-black reinforcement in 2023. Gerson and goalkeeper Rossi – he signed a pre-contract and will only arrive in July – were the others.
In addition to Ângelo, Flamengo intends to have at least two more reinforcements for the continuation of the season. The steering wheel position remains one of the most lacking, especially after the departure of João Gomes and the injuries of Thiago Maia and Pulgar.
The club analyzes names for the sector, including some that have been in negotiations in recent windows, with the possibility of a new attack.
