De La Cruz is expected to represent the red and black cast at Ninho do Urubu on January 8th, when the Flamengo pre-season begins. The team debuts in Carioca on January 17th and heads to the United States, where they will do the second part of their preparation in Orlando.

The 26-year-old Uruguayan began his career at Liverpool in his home country. He transferred to River in 2017, at 20. He won Libertadores, Recopa Sul-Americana, Campeonato Argentino and other titles with the Millonarios. There have been 211 games and 36 goals so far.
For the Uruguay national team, the midfielder has played 25 games and scored five goals. He is the brother of midfielder Carlos Sánchez, formerly of Santos and currently at Peñarol.
