De La Cruz has a valid contract with River Plate (ARG) until December 2025
Flamengo remains active in the market looking to reinforce the squad for next season. A former club target, midfielder De La Cruz is getting closer to a deal with Mengo. However, trying to frustrate Rubro-Negro’s plans, River Plate (ARG) tries one last trick to try to keep the Uruguayan in the squad.
De La Cruz has a contract with River Plate until December 2025. However, observing the possible agreement between the player and Flamengo, the Argentine team is moving behind the scenes to try to keep the athlete. The Buenos Aires team seeks to seduce the Uruguayan with proposals, however, they are already aware of Arrascaeta’s fellow countryman’s desire to wear the Sacred Mantle.
FLAMENGO HAS A MEETING SCHEDULED WITH DE LA CRUZ
In an attempt to conclude the negotiation immediately, Flamengo’s directors embarked for Uruguay in order to obtain a definitive response from De La Cruz’s businessmen. Thus, Marcos Braz and Bruno Spindel, vice-president of football and executive director of Fla, respectively, have a meeting scheduled this Saturday (16) with the athlete’s staff.
In addition to Flamengo executives and the player’s businesspeople, De La Cruz himself also traveled to Uruguay to participate in the meeting. The expectation is that, after the talks, the negotiations will have a ‘happy ending’ for Rubro-Negro. Everything is ok, the Uruguayan will sign a five-year contract with Mais Querido.
FLAMENGO WILL PAY THE FINE
If it receives a ‘yes’ from the athlete’s managers, Flamengo will pay River Plate the termination fine in cash for De La Cruz. The amount is equivalent to 16 million dollars (around R$78 million at current prices).
