Flagship Non-Nuclear Submarine “St. Petersburg” to Be Decommissioned Due to Expensive Repairs

Russia’s flagship non-nuclear submarine B-585 “St. Petersburg” is scheduled to be decommissioned due to expensive repairs. This was reported by military sources for the Russian TASS agency, reported De Re Militari.

“The St. Petersburg submarine is planned to be decommissioned, as its modernization is very expensive and a new one can be built with these funds.” In 2010, this submarine was accepted into the Russian Navy for trial operation, which ended in September 2021, and the submarine entered the combat composition of the Russian Navy.

On March 26 of this year, TASS reported that “Saint Petersburg” is in Kronstadt awaiting repairs. Other media began to report that the submarine was sent not just for repairs, but for modernization.
