It’s the story of an owl who became a star. Known to all New Yorkers, this nocturnal bird of prey, named Flaco, was followed by many residents of the city since he escaped from his enclosure at the New York Zoo in 2023. Someone had opened his cage and the police are still looking for that person…
Flaco was flying all over the buildings of the city and he was photographed and videoed by dozens of fans. Perched on the skyscrapers, where it overlooked the city and the daily lives of New Yorkers, this owl had become an emblem of the city. Alas, Flaco left. He was found dead on the Upper West Side on February 23, 2024.
From, thousands of photos of this eagle owl are shared on social networks. Because his disappearance caused great emotion in the city, so much so that a spontaneous memorial was created. Now, some are even calling for even greater protection of birds in large cities.
