Traffic on the A9 was stuck for hours this afternoon due to a broken bridge at Schiphol. The bridge remained open around 2pm due to a malfunction. An hour later, the section of the bridge sank again, but the barriers remained closed.

Shortly after 5:30 pm, Rijkswaterstaat reported that the fault at the Schiphol bridge has been completely resolved. The road, which had been closed in both directions, is now reopened again.

During the interruption, traffic in the direction of Schiphol was called to travel along the A2, A10 and A4. The National Unity was also deployed to redirect motorists who were already in traffic jams.
