FC Barcelona will make its next two departures official on Monday.
Vitor Roque and Clement Lenglet are leaving the Catalans – the young Brazilian striker Roque is joining Real Betis Sevilla, central defender Lenglet is moving to Atletico Madrid.
Both players are leaving Barcelona on loan. While 19-year-old striker Roque is joining Sevilla for a season after only six months since his arrival, Frenchman Lenglet is joining Diego Simeone’s Atleti for a year after two years on loan in the Premier League.
As transfer insider Fabrizio Romano reports, Betis secured a purchase option for the one-time Brazilian international – the loan also includes an option to extend. Super talent Roque only came from the home of Athletico Paranaense for 40 million euros in the winter of 2024, but had a difficult time at his new club from the start.
Atletico Madrid, however, has no option to buy Lenglet. For FC Barcelona, the salary savings associated with the departures represent an important step in finally being able to register star newcomer Dani Olmo for league play, for example.
