Cáritas, August 1, 2023.- Five young women committed to solidarity and service to others, who will soon participate in the World Youth Day in Lisbonhave carried out a volunteer service in the Cáritas soup kitchen in Algeciras accompanied by two of their monitors.
The group of young people, from the Archdiocese of Madrid, offered to live a volunteer experience at Cáritas Diocesana de Cádiz on their pilgrimage path to World Youth Day that begins this week in Lisbon.
Their work as volunteers in the Cáritas soup kitchen has focused on cleaning and maintenance of the place, with the aim of supporting and collaborating in maintaining a welcoming and safe environment for those who come daily in search of food and fraternal support.
World Youth Day, to be held in Lisbon, represents a unique opportunity for these young people to strengthen their faith, share with other young people from around the world and reaffirm their commitment to Christian values of solidarity and service to those most in need.
In the words of Vicente Pablo Ortells Polodirector of Cádiz Diocesan Caritas, «These young people are a clear example of how faith and love for others can be translated into concrete actions to improve the lives of those who need it most. His dedication and dedication in the Cáritas soup kitchen is an example for other young people who can find in Cáritas a place for their commitment and learning«.
