Five Young Conglomerates Included in the list of RI’s Richest People

Forbes Indonesia has again released a list of the 50 richest people in Indonesia. Between the rows conglomerate that, there are a number of people who still belong young among others.

They accumulated wealth from various business sectors and were able to survive the onslaught of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Here is a list of the 5 youngest people in the Forbes version of 50 Indonesian conglomerates.


1. Ciliandra Fangiono (44 years old)

With US $ 1.5 billion in assets, Ciliandra Fangion is in 30th place on the Forbes list of 50 Indonesian conglomerates. He is the CEO of First Resources, a palm oil company registered in Singapore with plantations throughout Indonesia.

His family owns a majority stake in the company started by his father Martias more than two decades ago. Prior to joining the family business, Ciliandra worked in the investment banking division of Merrill Lynch in Singapore.

He is a Senior Scholar in Economics and was awarded the PriceWaterhouse Book Prize at Cambridge University.

2. Iwan Lukminto (45 years)

Iwan Lukminto is in the 49th position with assets of US $ 515 million. He is the eldest son of the late HM Lukminto who founded the Sritex group in 1966 with a batik shop in Solo.

PT Sri Rejeki Isman or Sritex, where he has been serving since 1997, has now developed into a large integrated textile manufacturer and has begun making masks and personal protective clothing for medical personnel.

This group owns about 10 hotels in Solo, Yogyakarta and Bali, including the Holiday Inn Express in Bali. In June 2018, Lukminto Sriwahana Adityakarta paper company was listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. Iwan Lukminto is now also chairman of the Indonesian Listed Companies Association.

3. Arini Subianto (49 Years)

Arini Subianto is the daughter of Indonesian tycoon Benny Subianto. He has a net worth of US $ 610 million and occupies position 43 in the list of 50 richest people in Indonesia.

When Benny Subianto died in January 2017, he took control of his family’s multi-million dollar business empire. Renowned for his love of books and gifts, Arini Subianto now serves as the president director of Persada Capital Investama, which is his family’s holding company.

Arini oversees Persada’s investments in wood processing products and palm oil to rubber and coal processing. Persada’s portfolio includes a minority stake in coal giant Adaro Energy. Arini has invested in startup technology through Persada since 2017.

4. Garibaldi Thohir (55 years)

With assets of US $ 1.65 dollars, Garibaldi is in the 15th position in the order of the 50 richest people in Indonesia.

The name Garibaldi alias Boy Thohir is familiar in the business world. The son of one of the founders of Astra, Muhammad Teddy Thohir, is also the older brother of BUMN Minister Erick Thohir.

The largest source of his wealth comes from PT Adaro Energy. However, his business activities do not only focus on coal.

Boy is also listed as the owner of the financing company WOM Finance, the operator of a drinking water company, to the Hanamasa restaurant chain.

In Jakarta, Boy’s business is also big. Through the Wahana Artha Group, the company is the main dealer who distributes Honda motorbikes.

His family also operates a restaurant and owns a number of hotels.

5. Hary Tanoesoedibjo (55 years)

This man who is the General Chair of the Indonesian Unity Party (Perindo) is recorded to have a wealth of m US $ 950 million and occupies the 33rd position in the Forbes’ list of 50 richest Indonesians.

Hary Tanoesoedibjo started building a media business after graduating from college and currently has more than 60 TV stations, radio stations and newspapers.

He stepped down as CEO of his Media Nusantara Citra (MNC), which owns four national TV stations, in 2016 to focus on politics.

Through the registered company MNC Land, HT, as it is known, is building resorts in Bali and Java which will be managed by Donald Trump’s company.

His daughter Angela Herliani Tanoesoedibjo is the deputy minister of tourism and creative economy.
