Pedro Favela Salgado, the man who in May 2019 was arrested for having caused fatal injuries to your 5 month old baby because he cried and wouldn’t let him enjoy a soccer game, he will serve five years in prison.
The case caused a commotion when it was learned that the 26-year-old man, a fan of Club América, took the baby – baptized precisely as América – by the face and shook her strongly.
Favela Salgado was in the care of her and a 2-year-old son when the incident occurred. Upon being booked by the Police, the man wore the shirt of his favorite team.
This Thursday, the El Paso Times reported that the capital death case against Favela Salgado was withdrawn as part of a settlement; he pleaded guilty to charges of injuring a child with intent to cause bodily injury and for beating his 2-year-old son.
Additionally, two charges of child pornography were dropped as part of the settlement.
The children’s mother, Michelle Gutiérrez, was working that fatal night, but was later arrested for injuries to the children as well.
If the man, who has been under arrest since May 3, 2019, had been sentenced on the capital death charge, he would have faced life in prison.
After being arrested, he changed his version of events several times, saying among other things that the girl had fallen from a stroller.
