In his ruling, the judge banned the Moroccan from communicating with the victim or approaching within 100 meters of her or her home for a period of ten years. He will also have to pay the victim the sum of 33,840 euros as damages. The accused has already ceded to his ex-wife 50% of the housing in Reus and has undertaken to pursue and complete the payment of the mortgage costs.
The accused and the victim had been living as a couple since 2012, before the Moroccan decided on April 18, 2020, to initiate divorce proceedings after learning that his partner had committed adultery. Since that date, he has abandoned the marital home and moved in with his brother. A week later, on April 26, 2020, he returned to the home to, he said, recover some personal effects. The woman refused him access to the apartment, but at his insistence, she ended up opening it to him, reports Newspaper of Tarragona.

Once inside, the Moroccan began by blaming the victim for his supposed infidelities. While she was busy in the kitchen, she saw the Moroccan come to get a knife, which did not worry her, considering that he needed it to collect his things. Alerted by the woman’s calls for help, a neighbor finally came to rescue her. She was rushed to hospital where she spent five days in intensive care. She is suffering from the after-effects of this aggression and suffers from post-traumatic stress. The 43-year-old accused had served in the Moroccan army between 2004 and 2005, before being declared unfit due to acute psychotic disorders.
