A five-year-old child was resuscitated on Monday afternoon around 2 p.m. at De Ster recreational domain in Sint-Niklaas. The child was transferred to hospital in critical condition, says the Dendermond department of the East Flanders prosecutor’s office.

The girl is said to have gone under water in an unguarded swimming area of the provincial domain. “A rescuer of the aqua park next door has found the girl there,” says Pieter Debaets, director of De Ster.
