Five-Year-Old Boy Victim of Same-Sex Peer Sexual Abuse in Jakarta School

Jakarta

A five year old boy is said to have been the victim of sexual abuse committed by a same-sex friend in his class. It all started when the victim’s mother noticed a change in her child’s behavior. After being investigated, it was discovered that the child had repeatedly been a victim of sexual abuse.

Initially, the victim was angry with his mother because he was not given chocolate milk. While angry, the child opened his trousers and showed his genitals. The mother then asked where her child ‘learned’ this behavior. The child admitted that he had seen his classmate carry out a similar action. From this incident, the victim’s parents tried to investigate the abuse their child experienced.

“At first he often played with his genitals. He even told my wife,” said the victim’s father, quoted from detikNorth SumatraThursday (18/1/2024).

“We were suspicious about why the child’s behavior was like this. Finally, slowly the child asked why, he started telling the story that he had been molested four times by his friend at school,” explained the father further.

Separate from the parties in the case, child clinical psychologist Noridha Weningsari, MPsi explained that sexual behavior is defined as sexual urges which include very broad biological, psychological, social and cultural dimensions. For example, with children exploring the body by holding body parts, discussing body functions, role playing with peers such as playing house, or doctoring involving body parts.

“Sexual behavior itself is something that is inherent in human development, including school-age children. However, there are several sexual behaviors that fall into the Harmful Sexual Behavior (HSB) category, namely sexual behavior that is not developmentally appropriate for children and is dangerous or contains violence. ” explained Noridha to detikcomWednesday (18/1) night.

“One form of HSB is peer-on-peer sexual abuse, namely sexual violence that occurs between children who are at one stage of development,” he continued.

He further explained that sexual behavior is the result of interactions between individual characteristics and the surrounding environment. HSB can occur due to a number of factors, including exposure to sexual behavior that is not appropriate for age.

“This exposure can be through media in the form of images and videos or direct exposure such as hearing words related to sexual behavior, being involved in sexual behavior, including experiencing sexual violence, although it is not certain that the person experiencing it will immediately do it to someone else, or see sexual behavior that done or happened to someone else,” he concluded.
