The five who have been stuck in a cave in Slovenia since Saturday afternoon are expected to be freed on Monday. The rescue team reported this on Monday Facebook.
“Positive news this morning: the water level in the Krizna Jama cave has dropped overnight,” the European Cave Rescue Association wrote. This makes it possible for the team to send rescuers into the cave in the morning.
Two guides and a family of three have been trapped in the Krizna Jama cave system since Saturday afternoon. The family consists of a father, a mother and their adult child. Due to rainfall, the water level in the cave rose, preventing the group from reaching the entrance.
The five are said to be in a safe place in the cave. The group is provided with food, water and a heated tent. They are located about 2 kilometers from the cave entrance.
