Five stabbings in Ben Yavneh: three seriously injured

Three young men aged 17, 20 and 35 were seriously injured last night (Sunday) from a stabbing at Friendly Mall on Magginim Street in Gan Yavneh and were evacuated to Asuta Hospital in Ashdod for medical treatment. The police forces that were called to the scene were informed that this was a terrorist incident and that the terrorist, Muamen Faiz Mahmoud Khalil, 19 years old from Kfar Dora, had been eliminated.

From a preliminary investigation of the attack, it appears that the perpetrator, a resident of Dora near Hebron, who did not have residence permits, arrived at the shopping center armed with two knives and began a stabbing spree on the second floor. First he stabbed a young man who came out of the gym. He then entered the gym, where he managed to stab another young man. On the entrance floor, a third young man was stabbed.

A municipal police team, consisting of a police officer and an inspector, who received the distress call, arrived at the compound and began to carry out scans. In the process, the two noticed a terrorist who ran towards them and tried to hit them, the inspector managed to repel the terrorist while the policeman drew his weapon and fired at the terrorist until he was neutralized.

MDA medics, Yahya Buga and Hali Geller, who were the first to arrive at the scene of the attack in Gan Yavne, said: “We arrived at the scene and saw a commotion. On the sidewalk near the mall, a 17-year-old boy was lying fully conscious with bleeding stab wounds in all parts of his body. 100 meters away, near one of the cafes, the other two wounded were lying. We gave the boy life-saving medical treatment and evacuated him to the hospital in serious condition and fully conscious.”

Commander of the Southern District, Superintendent Amir Cohen: “The terrorist arrived today through a breach in the fence from the Hebron area, was checked to see if he had worked in the compound in the past. He previously held a work permit, stabbed with a commando knife, the three in serious condition were evacuated by MDA to Asuta Ashdod.” The Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben Gvir, also arrived at the scene of the attack in Gan Yavne: “One of the wounded fought the terrorist, the policeman and the inspector prevented a serious attack.”

In the announcement of the local council, the residents were informed that “the terrorist was neutralized by the municipal police, an inspector and a policeman who arrived at the scene of the incident. The security forces and the Israel Police, together with the security department and the local alert squad are conducting patrols in the area.”

Israel Levy, who works at the pizzeria next to the scene of the attack, told N12: “We were sitting in a pizza place and suddenly we heard screams, we saw people around the gym fighting with the terrorist, then they shouted at us to run, we ran fast, we heard bursts of gunfire.”

A 20-year-old IDF officer was slightly injured yesterday morning in a stabbing attack at the central station in Be’er Sheva. The terrorist, a resident of the city of Rahat, tried to stab soldiers and bystanders and was neutralized by an IDF soldier who was at the scene.
