Deputy Secretary of the DPP Shura Council PKB Maman Imanulhaq believes that the plan to form a grand coalition of five political parties is motivated by the strengthening of the Change Coalition for Unity which advocates Anies Baswedan as a presidential candidate, and the PDIP’s attitude regarding the presidential candidate has not yet been 2024 presidential election.

“It really seems that PDIP is still taking time to find the best formulation, so that makes these parties a little nervous,” said Maman when talking with CNNIndonesia.com in the Kuningan area, South Jakarta, Monday (3/4).

“While those who are considered to be the main rivals, the groups NasDem, PKS and Democrats are getting stronger, so a large coalition is needed. It involves the two forces, the United Indonesia Coalition and the Great Indonesia Coalition,” he added.

This grand coalition is planned to merge the United Indonesia Coalition (KIB), consisting of Golkar, PAN, and PPP, and the Great Indonesia Awakening Coalition (KKIR), consisting of Gerindra and PKB.

Maman saw that the plan for this grand coalition had just talked about uniting the political forces of the two coalitions. However, the coalition’s plan has not yet reached the stage of determining which figures will be promoted as presidential or cawapres candidates.

“But apart from that, the presence of the president yesterday to unite this coalition has not yet determined who the presidential and cawapres candidates are. We are serious about our political agenda today, structured and systematic,” he said.

However, Maman said that PKB fully submitted the decision to join the grand coalition to chairman Muhaimin Iskandar.

Most importantly for him, PKB is now focusing on talking about various programs that have been carried out by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) so that they can be continued in the next term.

“What program should Pak Jokowi’s legacy continue. And what breakthroughs did the new leader use so that what we call Indonesia is 100 years in 2045,” he said.

The plan to form a grand coalition of political parties in the face of the 2024 presidential election was sparked after President Jokowi met with five general party chairmen at the PAN DPP Office, Jakarta, Sunday (2/4) yesterday.

The five chairmen present were Golkar chairman Airlangga Hartarto, Gerindra chairman Prabowo Subianto, PAN chairman Zulkifli Hasan, PKB chairman Muhaimin Iskandar, and PPP chairman Mardiono.

President Jokowi, who was present at the meeting, responded positively to the discourse on five parties forming a grand coalition. However, he emphasized not to interfere in this plan.

“I’m just saying it’s suitable. It’s up to the party leaders or a combination of party leaders. For the good of the country, for the good of the nation, for the people, matters related to it can be discussed, it will be better,” said Jokowi.
