Five players expelled, including Francisco Luzarraga, for assaulting referee Christian Guillén in this Saturday’s match between Libertad and Técnico Universitario, was the negative balance for the penultimate date of the first phase of the Ecuadorian Soccer League.
Luzarraga, from the university team, hit referee Guillén in the face with his head, who sent him off for exaggerated claims, at minute 90, which caused the reaction of the Ecuadorian defender.
The assaulted judge also expelled, for sudden plays, Carlos Arboleda (minute 45), Jefferson Caicedo (m.86) and Marlon Medranda (m.94), all from Técnico Universitario.
He also sent off attacker Daniel Porozo (m.92), from Libertad, who won the match 1-0 with a score by Elián Carabalí, at minute 84.
This Saturday’s victory became the second since Libertad made its debut this year in the Ecuadorian first division, for which it left last place in the standings for the moment.
For its part, Liga de Quito, gave up a tie at its “Rodrigo Paz Delgado” stadium, 0-0 against Cumbayá, one of the teams considered modest in the current professional league, for which the League continues without being able to get away from the irregular campaign which it fulfills under the technical direction of the Argentine Luis Zubeldía.
While the League moved to third place, with 25 units, Cumbayá added 14, two more than the bottom teams, Mushuc Runa and Guayaquil City.
In the final match of the day, El Nacional defeated Deportivo Cuenca 3-1, in an intensely contested match, in which the visitor took the lead with a goal from Argentine Raúl Becerra, at minute 4.
The insistence of El Nacional began to pay off at minute 40, with Jorge Bolaños’ equalizing goal.
The goal that began to make the triumph of the “pure Creole team”, as they also tell El Nacional, which only plays with players born in Ecuador, was scored by Norman Andrés Micolta, at minute 79, and Bryan Tana, decreed the third, at minute 87.
While El Nacional reached second place, with 27 points, it fell to ninth place, with 18 points.
The penultimate date will continue this Sunday, with the matches: Delfín-Aucas; Guayaquil City-Barcelona; Orense-Independiente del Valle and will conclude next Monday with the clash between Emelec and Gualaceo. (D)
