The suspected killer was also killed in the shootout with law enforcement, local police chief Jim McSween said.
The shooting in Vaughan, located 30 kilometers north of Toronto, took place in an apartment building.
The injured man was taken to the hospital and his life is not in danger.
The police were called to the scene on Sunday evening. The police are investigating the motive for the crime and if there was any connection between the attacker and the victims.
