Five people arrested after gunfire in Montreal

The Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) arrested five suspects on Sunday evening in connection with an altercation followed by shots fired on Île Sainte-Hélène.

The emergency services received a call to 911 at around 6:10 p.m. from a citizen who reported a fight and gunshots heard in parking lot P-13 of Parc Jean-Drapeau, on Île Sainte- Helen.

Upon arrival, the police located a witness to the event. They also spotted a nearby vehicle possibly involved in this affair.

The officers then intercepted the five occupants. Thus, three women and two men are currently detained and questioned by investigators.

According to SPVM spokesperson Caroline Chèvrefils, no one was injured.

However, cartridge cases were found on the ground.

The scene is protected and it will be examined by investigators and forensic identification technicians in order to understand the circumstances of the event.
