/ world today news/ Five parties are sure participants in the next parliament. GERB retained its first position, albeit by a minimal margin. This is indicated by the data from a survey by the “Trend” research center, commissioned by “24 Chasa”, in the period February 2 – 9 among 1,002 adult Bulgarian citizens.
The sure participants in the next National Assembly to date are GERB, BSP, United Patriots, DPS and the new party of Veselin Mareshki “Volya”. The big two parties seem to have almost equal electoral support, with GERB still maintaining a minimal lead over its opponent. There is a certain increase compared to the previous survey of the research center “Trend” of the formation of Veselin Mareshki, reaching 6.5 percent of those who said they would vote. With the greatest chances for representation in the parliament is the Reform Bloc, although they face serious competition in the form of “Yes, Bulgaria” and “New Republic”, which are beginning to establish themselves.
A little over half of Bulgarian citizens are optimistic about Bulgaria’s future, while 36 percent are pessimists. The youngest are the greatest optimists, while in people over 60 there is practically parity between optimistic and pessimistic attitudes.
61 percent of people have already decided who they will vote for, and just under a quarter have not. Supporters of the two major parties seem rather firm in their intentions to exercise their right to vote.
During the survey, ABV and “Movement 21” signed an agreement on common participation in the elections, which may bring some change in electoral attitudes. The same applies to the merger between DOST of Lutvi Mestan and People’s Party “Freedom and Dignity”.
31 percent of the respondents believe that GERB will win the upcoming early parliamentary elections, while 27 percent believe that the winner will be BSP. More than a third cannot judge.
Among the main political leaders, Bulgarians consider Boyko Borisov (23 percent) the most suitable for the Prime Minister of Bulgaria, followed by Kornelia Ninova (19 percent), Krasimir Karakachanov (7 percent) and Veselin Mareshki (5 percent).
The United Patriots rank with GERB and BSP as the most acceptable participants in the next government, while the DPS is at the bottom of this ranking.
Due to the practically certain coalition format of the next government, “Trend” offered the respondents different versions of coalition formulas, and each of them had the opportunity to indicate up to three answers. With the highest share is a possible interaction between GERB and United Patriots, as they also think that the best option would be for GERB to govern with the Patriots and with Veselin Mareshki’s party “Volya”. The result of a possible unification between the BSP and the Patriots is also imminent. The values of a possible coalition between the BSP, the Patriots and Mareshki are lower. The lower result is mainly due to the right-wing profile of the voter of the Varna businessman, who does not accept a coalition with the BSP.
The survey is not a forecast of the election result, but a snapshot of public attitudes, “Trend” specifies.
