Five injured in shooting at nightclub in Marbella – VG

MARBELLA (VG) Local police confirm to VG that five people were injured in a shooting at a beach club in the popular Spanish resort town of Marbella on Monday night.

The local police are currently unable to provide information on the nationality of the injured.

The local newspaper The confidential writes that the suspected perpetrator has also been sent to the hospital with stab wounds.

One woman is said to be seriously injured after the incident, according to the newspaper.

El Confidencial has also gained access to video material showing a bar dispute between two youth gangs shortly before the shooting began.

VG has spoken to two Norwegian people who were present at the Opium Beach Club in Marbella when the shooting happened.

– There were howls and people shouting “pistol, pistol,” then the masses began to run towards the exits, says a woman in her 20s to VG.

She arrived at the beach club together with three other Norwegian women at 01 o’clock and had not reached and sat down at the table before the shooting began.

The shooting is said to have taken place around 01.00 on Monday night.

– It was difficult to understand what it was first, it sounded like a drum beat.

The woman estimates she heard three shots. Then there was complete panic.

– We ran out and many hid. People cried, she says.

The women from Norway came unharmed from the incident, but one of them saw what they describe as a severely injured person lying on the ground. They do not know if the person was shot or stabbed.

– Everything was so dark and chaotic, says the woman in her 20s.

– People ran, so there were guaranteed to be a lot of bottles and things that broke.

The artist Black Coffee, who played a DJ set at the nightclub on Sunday night, describes the incident on Instagram:

VG has been in contact with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which is investigating the case.
