Five injured after fire spills shop in The Hague into homes

Last night, five people ended up in hospital due to a fire in a shop in The Hague. The fire spread from a shop to houses above, which had to be evacuated. Three people were taken from the roof with a cherry picker.

The fire broke out around 00.20 in a shop on Weissenbruchstraat in The Hague. The fire had to evacuate six homes. Five people were injured, says a spokesman for the fire service. “They inhaled smoke and were taken to hospital by ambulance.”

Evacuations

According to the spokesperson, the residents of at least two homes cannot return for the time being. “We will see if the others can do that.” He could not say exactly how many people were evacuated because of the fire.

The fire was under control around 1:40 am and the fire brigade is extinguishing the fire.
