Gaza Conflict Intensifies: Civilian Deaths and Hospital Under Siege
The ongoing conflict in Gaza continues to escalate, resulting in a tragic loss of life and widespread destruction. On saturday, Israeli airstrikes claimed the lives of five Palestinians, including two children, in the nuseirat refugee camp. Medics confirmed the casualties to Reuters.
Adding to the grim situation, Gaza’s health ministry reported intense and sustained bombing of the Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza. The ministry described the attack as “unprecedented” and without warning, targeting one of only three functioning medical facilities in the area where israeli forces have been operating since October 7th, 2023.
“The bombing is being conducted with explosives and tank fire, directly targeting us while we are present inside the hospital departments,”
the ministry stated in a press release.
The Gaza health ministry reported staggering figures: at least 45,227 Palestinians killed and 107,573 wounded since the start of the offensive on October 7th.Thes numbers underscore the devastating human cost of the conflict.
The conflict extended beyond Gaza’s borders. early Saturday, a missile launched from Yemen reportedly fell near Tel Aviv-Jaffa. While the Israeli military failed to intercept the missile, the ambulance service reported 14 people sustained minor injuries from shrapnel.
A spokesperson for the Houthi movement, aligned with Iran, claimed responsibility, stating they had targeted a “military target” in the Jaffa area with a ballistic missile. The Houthis have repeatedly launched attacks towards Israel, framing them as acts of solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza.
In response to these attacks, Israel launched strikes against ports and energy infrastructure in houthi-controlled areas of Yemen on Thursday, issuing further threats of military action against the group.
