The shooting occurred at a bank in downtown Louisville, Kentucky, United States of America (US). Five people were killed and six others injured.
Reported AFP, the shooting occurred at around 08.30 local time, Monday (10/4/2023). The shooting occurred at the Old National Bank.
“Five people are confirmed dead inside. At least six have been transported to the University of Louisville hospital, including one officer with multiple injuries,” a police spokesman Lt. Col. Paul L. Humphrey told a news conference.
“There is no active danger to the public at this time.”
Paul says the shooter is frozen. When the shooting occurred, the local police mobilized their personnel on a large scale outside the Old National bank building
“There is no longer any active aggressor threat. The suspected shooter has been neutralized,” the police department confirmed on Twitter, while urging residents to stay away from the area.
Temporary, CNN reported that some people were able to take shelter in bank vaults and lock themselves up. They gave the news by contacting the police from inside.
Then, Fox Affiliate WDRB quoted a witness as saying that he heard several shots and broken glass while in his car. At that time, the witness was at an intersection near the shooting location.
“The shot went, like, right over my head. When I turned around I saw one of the windows in the bank had been smashed,” said witness Debbie.
