After the arrest of a 22-year-old man from Dordrecht and a 32-year-old man from Apeldoorn, the police got a picture of the customers. The main suspects are suspected of human trafficking in which they forced a minor to have sex for payment.
Human trafficking receives more national attention from the police and the Public Prosecution Service. In order to better protect minors, the Public Prosecution Service is increasingly prosecuting Article 248b of the Criminal Code. It states that fornication with a young person who is a prostitute is punishable.
The criminal law approach focuses on pimps and other people involved in human trafficking with minors. This also includes customers who have sex with a minor for a fee.
The main suspects are still in custody. The detained customers, men between the ages of 22 and 35 from Arnhem and the surrounding area, were released after questioning, but remain suspects in this case.
