Japan’s Defense Minister, Nobuo Kishi, said this was the first time a Chinese ballistic missile had landed inside the country’s EEZ.

Earlier, China fired a number of Dongfeng ballistic missiles in waters near Taiwan.

Not only that, two missiles were launched by China towards Taiwan’s Matsu islands at around 14:00 local time. The two missiles headed for two military drill points that China had previously announced.

As reported by Reuters, the news was conveyed in Taiwan’s defense report and confirmed by a defense source.

AFP reported that China held its largest military exercise around Taiwan today, responding to a visit by the chairman of the United States House of Representatives (DPR) Nancy Pelosi some time ago.

The drill, which started at around 12.00 local time, involved ‘live fire’.

“Six large areas around the island have been selected for combat drills at this time and during this period, the ships and aircraft involved are not allowed to enter the waters and airspace involved,” said a statement from Chinese state media CCTV, quoted by AFP.
