FITNESS. [Vidéo + Diaporama] Kingersheim: muscular bodies, assertive femininity

Sculpted bodies are no longer the preserve of men. In Kingersheim, in the fitness room Liberty Gym , Christine Dourecannou, 35, and Peggy Borocco, 46, relentlessly develop biceps, triceps, calves, glutes and abs … Despite confinement, these two professional athletes train every day with one goal in mind: to have a body perfect, the one they imagine as such. Strength training and body fitness are a subtle blend of training, discipline, healthy living, a passion for diet and competitions. “One doesn’t go without the other,” Peggy said.

Rigor and determination

“We are very perfectionists in this environment. We test our limits. It’s us against ourselves and it’s not the health restrictions that can slow us down, ”says Christine who performs her favorite movement: the deadlift. It is more than 60 kg of cast iron that she hoists to the hips, she who weighs 53 for 1.66 m. “When I started in 2016, my goal was to build muscle because I lacked resistance, to gain weight because I was too thin. I gained 5 kg in four years, only muscle. Today, I feel better in my body and I gained in confidence, adds this sinister person in charge in an insurance, recognizing the influence of the “fit girls” on the social networks. “I envied the bodies of all these fitness models so I moved. “

The thirty-something, who is in the theater six days a week, is followed by more than 20,000 people on Instagram and participated in an international competition in Portugal, the Olympia, in the bikini model category, on November 29th. “I finished at 6e place out of 10. I lacked shape and presence but that does not discourage me. “

An impressive track record

At the back of the room, Peggy Borocco works her protruding and hypertrophied muscles on the bench press. Bodybuilder for several years, she recently represented France at the world bodyfitness championship in Santa Susanna in Spain (November 7).

The Rixheimoise won the silver medal in the Master women’s physics category. However, it is not at its first attempt. In 1997, she was already on the roof of the world, this time crowned world champion. “It’s a great reward. It is a sport of sacrifice. My mirror is my enemy. I always want to showcase a better physique while remaining feminine. Preparing for a competition is intense but I think I like to suffer. We juggle between a strict diet and a training phase. »Peggy Borocco will participate tomorrow, this Friday December 11, at the championnat Arnold Classic. “I need challenges. It’s a way of proving something to me. Strength training saved me. “

Indeed, the sportswoman fought against ovarian cancer in 2012. Two years later, she got out of the business and pushed back the doors of a gym. “I launched the challenge of a comeback and I pushed my limits to resume the path of competitions in 2018.” Her adrenaline, she swears, is “the performance”. Six evenings a week, the one who prefers her “well-defined” shoulders to her calves, follows her own program. Sessions on the upper body, others on the bottom, “like that, nothing is left to neglect”, she says, smiling.

Both learned to tame their bodies, to tame it, and felt “stronger in life”, thanks to their well-designed chocolate bars. Femininity is also an attitude, a behavior. Christine Dourecannou and Peggy Borocco proudly exude a femininity that is theirs.

Liberty Gym Kingersheim does resistance

Jean-Michael Blondel, manager of Liberty Gym , in Kingersheim, opened its gym to high-level athletes as soon as the confinement began, but since December 9, it has chosen to expand the opening to priority people. “Members with a disability card or a medical prescription in the context of health sport can come to train thanks to a new decree. Professionals such as firefighters, police and gendarmes are also allowed to sweat on the machines. “My first client is a fireman warrant officer who was impatiently awaiting the opening of the rooms. I can afford to open since I manage everything, from reception, to cleaning until closing. However, I cannot bring in staff that I cannot afford to pay at the moment. Liberty Gym Kingersheim has 800 members. “How many will we find after deconfinement?” We will have to go find customers to ensure the sustainability of the club. We are in a dynamic of development. Liberty Gym is going to change its name and wants to focus on ultra-personalized coaching. “People are at the heart of our project. “
