14 sports, including track and field, taekwondo, volleyball, and rowing, and 30 stadiums
A 21-member inspection team from the International Technical Committee (ITC) and Information and Communication Technology (TEC) hosted by the International University Sports Federation (FISU) visited the 2027 Chungcheong World U Games Organizing Committee for 15 days from the 3rd to the 17th to discuss stadium facilities, athletes’ village, and tournament information. We inspected preparations for competitions in each field.
The FISU ITC inspection team, which visited Chungcheong World U Championships ‘D-1000 Days’, had a 3-day schedule for each sport, including athletics, management, diving, water polo, archery, taekwondo, judo, fencing, badminton, volleyball, basketball, golf, rowing, On-site inspections were conducted on 14 sports, including beach volleyball, and 30 stadiums (including training grounds).
In addition to stadium facilities, the FISU ITC inspection team also provided game technical advice and suggestions that meet the ‘FISU minimum requirements’ for stadium operation or game operation during the competition.
In particular, technical committee chairs such as Thomas Chang (volleyball) and Julius Kraric (fencing) were overall satisfied with the organizing committee’s preparation status, saying, “There is still a lot of time to prepare before the competition, and the current facility requirements are excellent.” “There are issues, but I expect the organizing committee to respond well in the future,” he said.
In the case of the Chungju Rowing Stadium, it is an international stadium that hosted the 2015 Gwangju U Games, the World Championships, and the Asia-Oceania Olympic qualifiers. Kirsten Meisner, Chairman of the Rowing Technical Committee, said, “It is already equipped with world-class facilities, and is related to preparations for the competition. “So I don’t expect anything to be difficult.”
Meanwhile, the FISU ITC inspection team also inspected the organizing committee’s preparations by field (FA) for the overall competition, including athletes’ village management and operation, arrival and departure, accommodation, transportation, food and beverage, manpower, volunteer work, and athlete services.
Chairman Kang Chang-hee said, “The organizing committee will show the current preparation status as is and actively accept professional and specific feedback from the FISU ITC inspection team to improve any shortcomings.”
