He has worked on designing and developing cars for many years for both BMW and Aston Martin. He has also developed his own models, but without the great success.
However, that may change now when Henrik Fisker launches his first electric car. The philosophy is that the Ocean, as the car is called, should be an electric car for most people. It also reflects the Norwegian price, which starts at around 375,000 kroner.
Even before Christmas, the first cars will roll out on Norwegian roads. Norway is the country Fisker first mentions when he tells which markets are prioritized:
– Success in Europe is critical for us to succeed. The first countries to get the car are Norway, Germany, Denmark, Sweden and Austria, Fisker said when he lasered the Ocean during the World Mobile Congress in Barcelona last week.
Warns: Pig electric car trap
Range 63 mil
Production of the car is scheduled to start in mid-November at the Magna plant in Graz, Austria. The first 5,000 cars will be an Ocean One launch model with seemingly good specifications and a lot of equipment.
It gets a battery pack that will give the car a range of 630 kilometers (according to the factory’s own calculations, not measured according to the WLTP standard), two engines with a total of 550 horses, four-wheel drive and equipment that allows to draw power to charge others cars, electric bicycles or provide electricity for a chainsaw at the cabin.
The price for the first issues is NOK 625,000 in Norway. In small print, however, it says that this is without delivery costs and fees. This may mean that you have to pay 10,000 – 15,000 kroner extra in wreck deposit, shipping, preparation and so on.
This will be cheap
When the first 5,000 cars have been delivered, production will begin on, among other things, Ocean Sport, which is priced at NOK 372,000 in Norway. This is as far as we can see quite reasonable for an electric car that is 4.78 meters long and should have plenty of space for a family with children.
A raw, electric sports car
Admittedly, this version only has front-wheel drive, 275 horses and a battery pack that will give a range of around 440 kilometers. It has the same ability to share power from the car, and all modern safety equipment is in place.
Service at Mekonomen
For now, Fisker does not say anything about how fast the cars can be charged. However, it is stated that the cars can pull trailers from 1100 to 1800 kilos. The latter are the cars with four-wheel drive and the strongest engine.
Fisker has no own service points in Norway, but has entered into an agreement with Mekonomen which will be responsible for maintenance, service and follow-up of warranty liability. The factory also guarantees that the batteries in the car retain at least 75 percent of the power for 10 years or 160,000 kilometers.
