[Fishing Hand Letter]Overcapacity mask industry reaches its peak-Muddy Water | Apple Daily

I haven’t been in Central for a long time. I was helplessly injured and had to go to the Central Clinic for physiotherapy. Only when I found out that the most popular shop in Central had opened a mask shop.

The epidemic has severely hit the tourism, retail and catering industries. Even the floor shops in the core areas of the business are rented out by mask shops. Watch shops and jewelry businesses have fallen sharply. Sure enough, the world is really turning around. As long as you don’t die, there is always a chance to have the last laugh, Hong Kong people, stand it up.

Recalling the early days of the epidemic, one of my juniors from Chinese University saw the business opportunity and immediately flew to India and Indonesia to purchase masks in a chaotic group. Although he was a little bit tricky, he finally managed to bring the goods successfully, and in the end he paid several hundred thousand yuan. At that time, Shizheng masks were scarce and they succeeded in speculation. A week later, hundreds of mosquitoes per box of masks were not speculating, and the supply returned to normal. After another week, the world began to ban flights. This money is not easy to make.

Maybe I usually have a good popularity. After the epidemic has been going on for a year, I have never bought a mask. At the beginning of the epidemic, relying on the “charity” of staying at home and friends, I actually passed the difficult time. Even when my ex-girlfriend called for help, I gave her a box. At that time, people who could purchase masks were more worthy of respect than the upper class in society. I know that some large companies are also rushing to purchase masks. Whenever that colleague buys a mask, he gets promoted. There are also colleagues in charge of medical projects who are forced to leave the company because they cannot find a mask and other factors are added.

Has changed for public relations purposes

Later, masks became a must-have product for public relations gifts in the business world. Every major season, Mid-Autumn Festival, Dragon Boat Festival, Christmas and New Year, I always receive a bunch of masks, so I don’t have to run around. I even give masks to colleagues and parents. And relatives far away in the United States.

Now that masks are produced, there are no business opportunities. Of course, it is profitable to use the concepts related to masks to prevent epidemics in the early stage. Once a junk stock says it has something to do with masks, the stock price can rise by several percent. Hong Kong’s overcapacity of masks can also be exported to other countries is a way out, but when masks have become marketing and public relations, it is difficult for you to earn greater gross profit.

I still remember that in the early days of the epidemic, the government asked someone to make copper-core masks. They were completely unqualified and looked like grandma’s panties. The SAR government spent wrong money to make low-quality masks, which are even more unbearable than the private market. It can be seen how rubbish the Hong Kong government is in dealing with the epidemic. On the contrary, the private market has solved many practical difficulties in epidemic prevention.
