The fishermen are mobilized this Monday, June 14, 2021. They are blocking the entries of the SARA (Société Anonyme de Raffinerie aux Antilles) in Lamentin. They are asking as a priority for the price of fuel to be frozen.

The fishermen have decided to make themselves heard by obstructing the entries of the SARA in California at Lamentin. A few days after the Guadeloupe, the professionals of Martinique have a list of demands whose main request concerns the freezing of the price of fuel.

It is a real cry of distress that they launch this Monday. The health crisis, the closure of restaurants, the decline in purchasing power have had consequences on their activity. Fuel prices weigh heavily on their business.

In Guadeloupe, the fishermen after a blockage of the port of Pointe-à-Pitre obtained an agreement in three points:

– The State and SARA accept a reduction of 40 cents for marine gasoline and 24 cents for marine diesel, prices guaranteed until August 31, 2021.

– The establishment of a monitoring committee which will bring together the signatory parties to continue discussions on setting the prices of marine fuels

– An expert from the Ministry of the Sea will come to work with fishing professionals on the structuring and consolidation of their sector.

The professionals of Martinique are determined on the dams this morning. They want the prefect Stanislas Cazelles to intervene to advance their grievances.
