A fish seller in his 40s has been sentenced to prison for twelve frauds committed in Eastern Norway.
The man has been sentenced to three months’ unconditional and two months’ conditional imprisonment.
Using a card terminal without a display, he defrauded himself of almost NOK 180,000, writes Romerikes Blad.
– The frauds have occurred by the accused entering incorrect numbers on the payment terminal he used, after which the customers were led to pay far more for the item they received than what the agreement was. The amounts have varied from approximately NOK 3,000 to almost NOK 30,000, according to the judgment from the Romerike and Glåmdal District Court.
Among other things, a woman from Horten paid NOK 8,000 for a package of fish cakes.
The fishmonger often added just an extra zero to the sum they had agreed upon. The customers thus did not realize that they were paying a pig per kilo price.
In addition to the prison sentence, the man must repay over NOK 130,000 to his former customers, the newspaper writes.
