Fish oil and heart problems .. Recent studies reveal the truth

Old studies have found a link between fish oil and its benefits for heart problems.

And those studies found that taking it reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease.

For many years, the American Heart Association recommended eating two fish meals a week.

And in 2017, the group also suggested that fish oil supplementation might slightly reduce the risk of death from heart failure or heart attack.

However, a recent study, discussed late last week at the Heart Association’s scientific sessions, found that fish oil supplements “do not really help in promoting heart health,” according to what CNN reported.

The team supervising the study explained that the results showed “no benefits of eating fish oil or vitamin D on heart health.”

A second study, published Sunday in the Journal of the American Medical Association, found that omega-3 fatty acid supplementation does not reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease.

Dr. Steve Nissen, a cardiologist at the Cleveland Clinic who worked on the study, said:

“Multiple trials have now shown no effect of fish oil at all on the heart and blood vessels.”

“In fact, fish oil may not be neutral, as it becomes harmful in some cases,” he added.
