Fischer, Arnold and Paradelo get gold – athletics

Young athletes from the region show strong performances at the state championship.

. Just one week after the Baden championship, the juniors under 20 and under 18 determined the track and field title holders in Baden-Württemberg. Despite the strong Württemberg competition, the athletes from the region were able to successfully present themselves and win three gold and three bronze medals and other good placements.

Noah Fischer from TV Herbolzheim had recovered well from the “hot” competitions the weekend before last – Baden championship at 36 degrees and southern German U-23 championship at 38 degrees. After first place in the Baden championship and the bronze medal in the southern German championship, he was highly motivated to once again achieve a top ranking. The start with 7.09 meters was a good basis to take a higher risk when jumping off the other jumps. That paid off right away in the second jump with 7.18 meters and a new personal best. This allowed Fischer to secure the gold medal and the Baden-Württemberg championship title. The highlight of the season for him is the German U-20 championship in Ulm on July 17th and 18th. Here Fischer would like to improve his personal best and win a medal.

Two more gold medals were won by the U18s Simon Arnold (LAC Freiburg) and Lino Paradelo (SV Waldkirch). Arnold showed his basic speed in the 800 meter final. He easily put up with the very fast initial pace of 56.28 seconds for the first 400 meters. With 200 meters to go, he easily took the lead and won in a very good 1:55.77 minutes.

Lino Paradelo celebrated a start-finish victory over 3000 meters. He reeled off lap after lap with a large lead and won in a new personal best of 9:16.10 minutes. This is the squad athlete’s fourth personal best this year.

Jonas Weschle (LAC Freiburg, U 20) won the 1500 and 3000 meters at the Baden championship. Here he again had to deal with his long-term rival Lukas Erle and Luca Madeo from Württemberg. The Villinger Erle made the race fast. Weschle ran the whole time in third position and only had to give up 200 meters before the finish. He finished third in a new personal best of 8:43.47 minutes.

Fabienne Renée Berg (USC Freiburg, U 18) ran over the 400 meter hurdles with a new personal best in 66.71 seconds for bronze. On the same day she also competed in the 800 meters where she finished fifth (2:23.70). Tore Machons (LAC Freiburg, U 18) won the third bronze medal in a new personal best of 4:14.78 minutes over 1500 meters. Over 800 meters he was sixth in a new personal best of 1:59.57 minutes.
