Fisabio researchers take the stage against misinformation about vaccines

The Foundation for the Promotion of Health and Biomedical Research of the Valencian Community (Fisabio) The show premieres on March 7 ‘Scientists and Artists: vaccines on stage’in which foundation researchers tackle myths and fight misinformation about immunization.

As explained by Fisabio, it is a play that unites science and art in order to “expose and create debate about issues and false myths associated with vaccines.”

The play is led by researchers from the Fisabio Vaccine Research Area (AIV) and will take place at the Rambleta space‘ in Valencia at 8:00 p.m. this Tuesday.

Within the framework of the ‘Scientists and Artists’ initiative, the organizers have opted to integrate the participation of the spectators of the event, so that they can make decisions about the course of the work.

Through interactive dynamics, attendees will have the power to stop and change the performance, following a type of theater called theater-forum.

In ‘Scientists and Artists: Vaccines on Stage’, Fisabio researchers who study vaccines and the impact that vaccine-preventable infectious diseases have on society become actresses to bring their research closer to the public in an entertaining and fun way.

Thus, with a work structured in four acts, topics such as participation in clinical trials, the effects of vaccination, HPV vaccines in boys and girls and the false news generated around them will be addressed.

The play has been scripted by the playwright Alejandra Garridoand among the researchers are Ainara Mira (biostatistics), Arantxa Urchueguia (observational studies), Cintia Muñoz (researcher), Elisa Correcher (biostatistics), Irene Extremera (biostatistics), Julia Garcia (science journalist), Lina Perez (responsible for Clinical Trials of the AIV) and Veronica Abad Garcia (clinical trial support technique).

Admission to the event will be free, although it is necessary to confirm attendance through the Fisabio website.

The ‘Scientists and Artists’ project has the collaboration of the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology – through the Ministry of Science and Innovation.
