There is little visual connection with the Corolla hatchback, as the Corolla Cross is as big as the RAV4, which is two generations older. There’s definitely more room in the back than the C-HR, and you can finally look out the window. Corolla Cross is only available as a hybrid, and only in the most powerful format with a two-liter gasoline engine. The total power is 197 hp.
The crossover was the first Toyota with the new 5th generation hybrid device, which has a lighter and more capacious battery. Eight seconds to 100 kilometers per hour is quite a decent figure for a car obviously designed around a pram. The shape of the trunk is clearly subordinated to them.
On the other hand, fuel consumption in city traffic drops right before your eyes – from the initial 7.7 l/100 km to 6.6 l/100 km and even less. Such a simplified concept crossover Corolla Cross has a rather sophisticated multi-link suspension and a decent ground clearance for a city jeep. Accordingly, it also drives better than it looks – gently, relaxed, but confident. And thanks to atypically large mirrors, the Corolla Cross is not difficult to handle in city traffic.
The Toyota Corolla Cross has four different configurations, and the crossover can also be had with all-wheel drive, which is rare in this size in combination with a hybrid engine. The most expensive variants also have a panoramic roof, additional lighting and other extras for the city dwellers. The price of the Toyota Corolla Cross is also still considered normal – from 33,800 to 41,800 euros, so it is relatively in the middle between the C-HR and RAV 4 hybrids.
