First woman on the “Money and Currency” board of trustees

Pouring (red). Prof. Christina Bannier, Professor of Banking and Finance at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen (JLU), has been appointed to the Board of Trustees of the “Money and Currency” Foundation by the Board of Directors of the Deutsche Bundesbank.

She began her three-year term as a deputy member on January 1st. Christina Bannier is the first woman to have been appointed as a deputy member of the Board of Trustees since it was founded in 2002.

The seven members of the Board of Trustees and their deputies are personalities from science, ministries and banks. Their tasks include, in particular, the decisions about the foundation’s funding and investment policy.

The Money and Currency Foundation supports economic and legal research in the field of money and currency. These include doctoral scholarships, the establishment of the “Institute for Monetary and Financial Stability” competence center at the Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main, summer schools, conferences and support with publications.
