New York has a weekend without shootings and murders
New York For the first time in 25 years, the US metropolis of New York experienced a weekend without murders and shootings. However, no trend can be derived from the positive news.

“This is the first time in decades, and not only the New York police can be proud of it, all New Yorkers can be proud of it,” said Police Chief James O’Neill on Monday. The last weekend in the metropolis was in 1993 without a shooting.
–
“There were no shootings or murders on Friday, Saturday and Sunday,” announced O’Neill. However, no general decline in violent crimes can be derived from this. The previous weekend of October 6th and 7th was “terrible”, the authorities said. There have been multiple shootings in the Brooklyn and Bronx neighborhoods.

The number of murders in New York is also on the rise again, after 292 murders last year, the lowest number since the 1950s. There were 147 murders in the first half of 2018, an eight percent increase over the same period last year. Most of the crime occurred in Brooklyn and the Bronx.

With a population of 8.5 million, New York is the most populous city in the United States. The east coast metropolis was once notorious for violent crimes, but has reduced the number of murders by 87 percent since 1990.
