“Rotterdam” is a large (299 meters) and new ship, it was launched in the fall of 2020, but due to the pandemic, it went on its first cruise only in the fall of 2021. “Rotterdam” is a luxury cruise liner, it has 12 decks, there are 6 restaurants on board, a spa center, extensive sports and recreation areas, a library, an art gallery, a theater and a concert hall and other leisure facilities for the ship’s passengers.

The ship arrived in Riga from Rostock and will continue to the port of Tallinn. The 14-day Baltic Sea cruise started and will end in Amsterdam.

This is the first visit of the “Rotterdam” ship to the port of Riga, which was celebrated today with a special ceremony, with Edgars Sūnas, the deputy manager of the Freeport of Riga, and Bas van Dreumel, the ship’s captain, exchanging commemorative tokens on the ship’s bridge.

This season, a total of 63 cruise ship visits have been announced in the port of Riga. Riga will be visited by 22 fleet ships of different cruise lines, including two cruise ship lines that have never been in Riga before – “Ambassador Cruise Line” from the UK and “Vantage Travel” from the USA. Seven ships will visit Riga for the first time. During the season, 14 visits are planned, which will last 2 days (overnight). The maximum capacity of all registered ships is more than 88 thousand passengers.
This week, on May 8, the cruise line Fred also docked at the port of Riga for the first time. Olsen Cruise Lines ship MS Bolette with 995 passengers, while this Saturday, May 13, after a break of several years, the expedition cruise flagship “National Geographic Explorer” will again dock at the port of Riga.
