First victory in the German Carrera Cup: Güven wins in Oschersleben

A special success for Ayhancan Güven (Turkey / Phoenix Racing): the Porsche Junior celebrated his first victory in the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany on Saturday in the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben. “I’m so happy. The initial phase was a great challenge on the wet road. Larry ten Voorde put a lot of pressure on me at first, but I defended myself successfully and was even able to build a lead, ”said Güven. The 23-year-old is the first Turkish race winner in the German one-make cup. In the ADAC GT Masters race, Larry ten Voorde (Netherlands / Team GP Elite) and Laurin Heinrich (Germany / Van Berghe Huber Racing) finished second and third in their 510 hp Porsche 911 GT3 Cup.

When the 27 drivers rolled onto the grid on Michelin slicks, a brief rain shower set in. So the race started on a wet track behind the safety car. After three laps the fully electric Porsche Taycan Turbo S turned into the pit lane, pole-setter Güven took the lead and fended off an attack by ten Voorde right in the first corner. After that, the Phoenix Racing driver was able to pull himself further and further away. After 20 laps, Güven saw the checkered flag 2.5 seconds ahead of ten Voorde. “The rain made for an action-packed start phase. Maximum concentration was required. Fortunately, the track dried up as the race progressed. Second place gives me important points for the championship, ”said ten Voorde.

Heinrich took third place on the 3.667 kilometer route southwest of Magdeburg. “I haven’t seen so many wet races before, so the first laps were a big challenge for me. Nevertheless, the race was great fun, ”summed up the 19-year-old. Heinrich was thus the best driver from the talent pool, the young talent program of the one-make cup. The battle for fourth place offered thrilling motorsport – a total of six drivers were only about a second apart. In the end, Leon Köhler (Germany / Nebulus Racing by Huber) prevailed. The Germans were followed by rookie Morris Schuring (Netherlands / Team GP Elite) in front of Christopher Zöchling (Austria / Fach Auto Tech), Julian Hanses (Germany / HRT Performance) and Rudy van Buren (Netherlands / CarTech Motorsport by Nigrin).
