After two defeats, the Giants clinched their first victory of the season, Saturday, on the field of the Deux-Montagnes high school, by disposing of the Nordiques of Collège Lionel-Groulx by a score of 43 to 40 in overtime.
The Cégep Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu football team trailed 24-15 in the third quarter before making a comeback and taking the lead 29-24.
Then, with a few seconds to go in the fourth quarter, the Nordiques tied 37 to 37. The Nordiques scored a field goal early in overtime, but the Giants responded with a touchdown on a two quarterback run. -back Gianni Casati to finally win 43 to 40.
Running back Jonathan Martel-Joseph had a great game with three touchdowns. The Giants’ other two majors were scored by Louis-Félix Leblanc (10-yard pass) and Gianni Casati (5-yard rush).
Jean-Philippe Bégin’s troupe will be back in front of their supporters on Saturday, October 2, welcoming the Cheetahs from Vanier College. The match will be presented at 7:30 p.m. at the Alphonse-Desjardins stadium.
