The first vaccinations were carried out on Monday in the long-term care unit of the Pierre Garraud hospital, in the 5^e borough. The first stage of this campaign will be fully deployed from January 4 in the 12 departments of the region, said the ARS. This pilot phase should take place over 6 to 8 weeks, with a timetable that will be defined for the 940 EHPADs and 78 long-term care units concerned in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes.

“The delivery of vaccines to all establishments welcoming the elderly will be carried out once the establishments have communicated the number of residents wishing to be vaccinated in order to ensure the delivery of the exact number of doses, the vaccine must be administered. within five days of thawing“, specifies the ARS.

The logistical organization began on December 21, with the delivery and installation of the first freezers in Ain, Loire, Isère and Rhône, and the supply of several thousand doses of vaccines for the Hospices civilians in Lyon, an establishment designated as one of the five French hospitals with the CHUs of Paris, Lille, Dijon and Tours, to begin the pilot phase of vaccination.

Stage 2 of the vaccination campaign will start at the beginning of February for the elderly at risk and for health personnel over 50 years of age or with comorbidities. Phase 3 will finally begin at 3^e trimester.
