first vaccinations in Deux-Sèvres where the health situation is “critical”

The health situation continues to deteriorate in the Deux-Sèvres department. The incidence rate now exceeds 200 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. “We had 480 positive cases in three days. The incidence rate reaches 206 cases per 100,000 inhabitants”, notes Laurent Flament, director of the Regional Health Agency in Deux-Sèvres. The prefect of the department Emmanuel Aubry talks about “critical situation”.

So should we expect a curfew from 6 p.m.? “All options are on the table”, indicates Emmanuel Aubry even if the incidence rate is not the only factor taken into account. It is in this context that the vaccination campaign was launched for priority audiences. In the Tallud and Brioux-sur-Boutonne nursing homes but also at the Niort hospital.

“As a caregiver, we have a duty to set an example”

Among these first vaccinated Thierry Fouet, health executive in psychiatry at the hospital of Niort. “As a caregiver we have a duty to set an example. To say that we as a caregiver were not apprehensive”. This apprehension he knows it exists, “even among caregivers, so I also try to convince my colleagues that we have to be present and the population can be reassured”.
