With the aim of protecting the community of the UNAM Faculty of MedicineOn October 25, the Department of Public Health (DSP), in alliance with the “Villa Álvaro Obregón” Family Medicine Clinic of the ISSSTE, held the First Vaccination Day, under the coordination of Dr. Andrés Quintero Leyra, Head of Academic Linkage of the DSP and Dr. Héctor Téllez of the CMF of the ISSSTE, who is also a teacher at our Faculty.
In front of the time clock and in the Comprehensive First Contact Area, Intern doctors who carry out their Social Service at the Faculty and interns and residents of the Family Medicine Clinic administered 1,000 influenza vaccines, 80 measles-rubella vaccines, 200 hepatitis B vaccines, and 140 tetanus vaccines.
Dr. Quintero Leyra highlighted that “The importance of this vaccination is to prevent conditions that can be fatal and that, in some cases, cause disability or chronic diseases, so this is a measure that is quite cost-effective to prevent and reduce people’s risk”. Furthermore, it is one of the interventions that the State carries out to protect the health of Mexicans.
