“First US Cases of Highly Contagious and Drug-Resistant Skin Disease Reported: Treatment Takes a Long Time”

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recently announced the registration of the first two cases of a highly contagious and drug-resistant skin disease in the United States, while doctors say that treatment takes a long time.

According to the American Health Authority, the skin disease was diagnosed in two women in New York State.

The disease that was monitored is known as “Trichophyton indotineae”, which is a fungus that causes the so-called “ringworm”, which causes itching, blisters and redness of the body in various parts of the body.

Infection from this antiviral strain is common in South Asia, but has not been previously reported in the United States.

In the two cases recorded in New York, aged 28 and 47, the infection led to blisters in the violence and abdominal area, according to the US centers.

A dermatologist examined the two cases and notified the authorities on February 28, 2023, while their condition did not respond to treatment.

The youngest patient was infected in the summer of 2021, while she was pregnant, and she began treatment after giving birth, but her condition did not improve after two weeks.

Another treatment was given to stop the itching, and that is what happened, but the doctors are still watching to see if her condition worsens again.

As for the second woman, she became ill after a trip to an Asian country in the summer of 2022, and she is still taking treatment until now, and doctors estimate that she has improved by 80 percent.

And US officials indicated that the two women do not know each other, and that the first had never traveled, and therefore, it is possible that the infection had been transmitted to her while she was in the United States.
