The first Umrah group from Iran will depart for Saudi Arabia from Imam Khomeini International Airport in Tehran on Tuesday. After a long gap of eight years, Iranian pilgrims are coming back to Saudi Arabia. The arrival of pilgrims resumed with the warming of Saudi-Iranian relations. The Iran Hajj and Pilgrim Organization announced that consultations and coordination with the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah have been held regarding the arrival of Umrah pilgrims.
A group of 550 people will be on the first trip. Pilgrims who come to Makkah stay in Makkah for five days and then return to Madinah. The group will return after completing another five-day visit to Madinah. In the next few days, more groups will reach Saudi Arabia for Umrah. Seventy thousand pilgrims from Iran have been permitted to perform Umrah this year.
