Attorney Nam Wook, who was released early this morning after being arrested for a year on corruption charges in Daejang-dong development, appeared at trial today on charges of preferential treatment in Daejang-dong and he continued to claim that “there was a stake in Mayor Lee Jae-myung.”

Attorney Nam Wook, who was questioned by the prosecution as a witness at the Daejang-dong bribery suspicion trial held at the hearing of the 22nd Criminal Division of Seoul Central District Court, said, “I heard Mr. Man -bae Kim since January 2015, and I knew that Cheonhwa Dongin No. 1’s share was Mayor Lee Jae-myeong’s share.” He reiterated the position he had taken in the previous trial.

When the prosecution asked, “Why didn’t you make a statement during the investigation a year ago?” he said, “There was an election, and as soon as I entered the country, I was arrested and investigated, and I was distracted and, to be honest, I was scared.”

Attorney Nam-wook also explained, “Through Mr. Kim Man-bae, Mayor Lee Jae-myeong took part in the project to get him to give up public development and allow private development.”

Attorney Nam, who was released around 0 today, said “I’m sorry” and headed to a hotel in Seoul.
