First tractors and trucks on Dam Square for protest action | Inland

On the tractors hang inverted Dutch flags. In recent weeks, those flags have become a symbol of farmers’ protests against the cabinet’s nitrogen policy.

According to the organization, actions will also be held on Saturday in other countries, such as Canada, Australia and Italy to support Dutch farmers. A number of international speakers are also scheduled for the demonstration on Dam Square on Saturday, according to initiator Michel Reijinga.

A spokesperson for the municipality says that the tractors will be allowed on the square as a backdrop for the demonstration. “We’re making sure there aren’t too many. But for the time being, the image is that it is quiet, and that the demonstration can proceed in an orderly manner.”

The protest starts at 12:00 noon. After a meeting on Dam Square, a route will be walked through the city around 1 p.m.
