First tour of the America Pavilion of Fitur 2022

2022 features opened its doors this Wednesday, January 19 and Hosteltur toured the corridors of the America Pavilion very early, where the stands from 16 Latin American countries more USA. The fair recovered six official delegations from the region compared to the 2021 edition.

Of the 70 official delegations from countries present at FITUR, 24% are from the Americas, which go to the European market via Spain, as a market and hub for the region.

The seven South American countries present are Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela. Ecuador, Bolivia and Paraguay do not have a country stand at Fitur.

Argentina: investments and connectivity

Argentina brought to Madrid a delegation made up of more than 30 tourist companies, a dozen destinations, members of entities and national authorities. The objective: attract investments and greater connectivity, to take advantage of favorable conditions for foreigners. The Minister of Tourism, Matías Lammens, has said: “Argentina is very cheap for European tourists”.

“Argentina is once again present at FITUR to continue promoting receptive tourism, the great commitment of our management, because we understand the opportunity that opens up in the post-pandemic to promote our country in strategic markets such as Europe,” said the Executive Secretary of the Inprotur, Ricardo Sosa.

Colombia: diversifying destinations

Colombia arrived at Fitur 2022 with a commitment to the growth of the tourism industry from the regions.

The national stand has a delegation of 40 companies, including tour operators, accommodation establishments, regional tourism promotion entities, and the Avianca airline.

The objective: to highlight the six tourist regions, a promotion strategy in response to international demand and new trends in the world of travel to show a more organized, sustainable and competitive offer both in vacation tourism and in the meetings industry.

In 2021, Spain was the first European market for trips to Colombia and the sixth globally: more than 37,200 travellers.

Peru: safe destination

Peru is present at the 42nd edition of the International Tourism Fair, Fitur 2022, with a delegation led by the executive president of Promperú, Amora Carbajal, with the aim of positioning the country as a safe and ready destination for international travelers.

The delegation is complemented by a total of 19 co-exhibitors from diverse sectors such as tour operators and travel agencies, to present their novelties and tourism offer in the nature, adventure and culture segments, as well as in the MICE sector.

Peru will focus the efforts of its participation in the promotion of the country as a bio-safe destination. To do this, it will present all the information related to biosafety protocols (Safe Travels Seal), with special emphasis on outdoor experiences and sustainable practices.

Uruguay

On Friday 21, at 11 in the morning, the Minister of Tourism, Tabaré Viera, will lead the presentation of the country at the Uruguay stand, to which tour operators and the media are invited.

The delegation is made up of Roque Baudean, National Director of Tourism; Planning Manager of the Mintur-and coordinator of the stand-, Doris Rodríguez; the departmental directors of Tourism of the municipalities of Montevideo, Fernando Amado; from Cologne, Martin de Freitas; of Maldonado, Martin Laventure; the president of the Uruguayan Chamber of Tourism, Marina Cantera; the private operators Macarena Pérez, from Dcom Travel and Lucía Amestoy from Cynsa Uruguay.

The Uruguayan ambassador to Spain, Ana Teresa Ayala Barrios, and other diplomatic and consular officials will also be present at the fair.

Mexico and Mexican Caribbean

María Valcarce, director of FITUR, explained at the time that Mexico’s participation this year brings a stand of more than 1,000 square meters, where it will be displaying its varied and rich tourist offer.

“For Spaniards, Mexico is a very dear country that we feel very close to despite the distance and it is a destination that I would dare to say that all Spaniards dream of knowing and, those of us who have already been, of returning,” Valcarce said. .

The Caribbean Mexico participates with a pavilion of 120 square meters with 18 work tables, where more than 10 companies from Quintana Roo will participate.

In the destinations of the Mexican Caribbean there are 14 hotel chains of Spanish origin that add up to more than 35,000 rooms.

In 2019, Mexico received more than 390,000 arrivals from Spain, of which 167,000 arrived in Quintana Roo: 42% of the national total.
